Product Description

Hexagonal V-Belt (Double V-Belt)

When you need to drive pulleys on both sides of a belt, standard V-belts won’t work — they only have one wedge surface. Hexagonal V-belts (also called double V-belts or hex belts) solve this with a symmetrical cross-section that engages pulleys on both the top and bottom surfaces.

We manufacture hexagonal V-belts for agricultural equipment, industrial machinery, and specialty applications where serpentine routing or reverse-bend drives are required. Our IATF 16949 certified facility produces these belts to the same quality standards as our automotive lines.

Why Hexagonal Belts?

Dual-Sided Power Transmission

The symmetrical hexagonal cross-section allows the belt to engage V-pulleys on both sides. This enables complex drive layouts where pulleys rotate in opposite directions or where the belt must wrap around multiple shafts.

Reverse-Bend Capability

Standard V-belts can only bend in one direction (around the inner surface). Hexagonal belts can bend both ways, allowing serpentine routing through multiple pulleys.

Agricultural Applications

Farm equipment often requires driving multiple implements from a single power source, with shafts rotating in different directions. Hexagonal belts are standard equipment on many combine harvesters, tractors, and other agricultural machinery.

Applications

Agricultural Equipment

  • Combine harvesters — Header drives, straw walker drives
  • Mowers — Multi-blade deck drives
  • Balers — Pickup and feed mechanisms
  • Forage harvesters — Cutterhead drives

Industrial Machinery

  • Conveyors — Complex routing requirements
  • Packaging equipment — Multi-shaft drives
  • Textile machinery — Reverse-rotation requirements

Lawn & Garden

  • Riding mowers — Multi-blade deck drives
  • Garden tractors — PTO-driven attachments

BB17mm14mmBMedium duty, most common

DD32mm25mmDExtra heavy duty

Material Selection

NR (Natural Rubber)

Standard for agricultural applications. Excellent elasticity and tear resistance for shock-load environments.

CR (Neoprene)

Better oil resistance for industrial applications where contamination is a concern.

EPDM

Heat-resistant option for high-temperature or outdoor applications with significant sun exposure.

Quality Assurance

Hexagonal belts must be symmetrical — both wedge surfaces need identical geometry for proper pulley engagement. Our IATF 16949 certified quality system ensures:

  • Symmetry verification — Both sides checked for identical dimensions
  • Angle accuracy — Wedge angles verified on both surfaces
  • Tensile testing — Cord strength and adhesion confirmed
  • Flex testing — Simulates reverse-bend operation

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I use a hexagonal belt where a standard V-belt is specified?

Only if the drive requires dual-sided engagement. If the drive only uses one side of the belt, a standard V-belt is more cost-effective and will perform identically.

How do I identify a hexagonal belt?

Look at the cross-section — hexagonal belts have the same wedge shape on both top and bottom. The designation will typically include “AA”, “BB”, “CC”, or “DD” (doubled letters indicating double-sided).

What’s the MOQ for hexagonal V-belts?

Standard sizes: 300 pieces. Custom specifications: 500 pieces. Contact us to discuss.
