Narrow V-belts pack more power into less space. The narrower profile and deeper wedge angle grip the pulley more effectively than classical V-belts, transmitting up to 3 times more power per belt. When you need serious power density — or when you’re replacing a multi-belt classical drive with fewer belts — narrow V-belts are the answer.
We manufacture narrow V-belts to ISO 4184 and RMA standards, compatible with 3V, 5V, and 8V pulley systems. Our IATF 16949 certified facility produces these belts with the same quality standards we apply to our automotive lines.

| Section | Top Width | Depth | Equivalent Classical | Power Advantage |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 3V / 9N | 9.5mm | 8mm | A/B | ~2x power per belt |
| 5V / 15N | 15.9mm | 13mm | B/C | ~2.5x power per belt |
| 8V / 25N | 25.4mm | 23mm | C/D | ~3x power per belt |
The deeper wedge angle (40° vs 38° for classical) creates more friction contact with the pulley groove. More grip means more power transmission per belt. A single 5V belt can replace two B-section classical belts in many applications.
Fewer belts means narrower pulleys and shorter shafts. For new equipment design, narrow V-belts allow more compact drive packages. For retrofits, you can often reduce the number of belts while maintaining or increasing power capacity.
Less belt mass means less energy lost to belt flexing. Narrow V-belts typically run 1-2% more efficiently than equivalent classical belt drives. On large motors running continuously, this adds up.
Fewer belts = fewer components to inspect, tension, and replace. Multi-belt classical drives require matched sets; narrow V-belt drives often use single belts or smaller matched sets.
| Choose Narrow V-Belts When: | Choose Classical V-Belts When: |
|---|---|
| Power requirements are high | Power requirements are moderate |
| Space is limited | Space is not a constraint |
| Efficiency matters | Initial cost is primary concern |
| Designing new equipment | Replacing existing classical drives |
| Reducing belt count is valuable | Existing pulleys are classical profile |
Note: Narrow V-belts require narrow V-belt pulleys. You cannot use a narrow belt in a classical pulley groove — the profiles are different.
For maximum performance, we offer cogged versions of narrow V-belts. The combination of narrow profile and cogged construction provides:
See our banded cogged narrow V-belts for multi-belt applications requiring both cogged performance and banded stability.
Narrow V-belts transmit high loads in a compact package — quality is critical. Our IATF 16949 certified quality system ensures:
We work with industrial distributors and OEMs on supply programs:
Only if you also replace the pulleys. Narrow V-belts have a different groove profile than classical belts. However, the retrofit often makes sense — you’ll get more power from fewer belts with a more compact drive.
Based on power requirements and pulley diameters. 3V for lighter duty (up to ~15 kW per belt), 5V for medium duty (up to ~50 kW per belt), 8V for heavy duty (up to ~150 kW per belt). Contact us for drive design assistance.
Standard sizes: 300 pieces. Custom lengths: 500 pieces. Matched sets available for multi-belt applications.
